The Syrian Coalition-run Assistance Coordination Unit (ACU) announced that Zakaria Hijazi, one of its relief workers, was killed in a Russian airstrike in southern rural Aleppo yesterday. Hijazi’s car was hit in the airstrike while doing his work in providing relief support to those affected in the area.
The Russian invaders have committed war crimes since they launched the aggression on Syria a month ago, bombing residential areas, hospitals, schools and bakeries. Nearly 1,716 civilians, including women and children, were killed, while 12 hospitals in three provinces as well as bakeries in Ter Maaleh and Saraqib were hit by the Russian airstrikes.
In a statement released in late October, the Syrian Coalition stresses that “Russia’s clear war strategy on Syria has been to primarily target, kill, and displace civilians since day one.”
“The Russian bombardment amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity. The international community and the UN Security Council must strongly condemns these attacks. Urgent action must also be taken to stop further Russian aggression and to hold the perpetrators accountable.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
