The Assad regime forces and their allied militias continue to violate the ceasefire which entered its third week as they continue with attempts to advance on opposition-held territories and issue threats of resumption of hostilities in northwestern Syria.
Assad regime forces on Thursday tried to advance on the town of Al-Fatiri in southern rural Idlib under cover of artillery and rocket fire. The Assad regime, Iranian militias, and Russia brought in new reinforcements to the southern Idlib countryside.
Regime forces also carried out intense artillery and rocket shelling on the town of Al-Barah in Al-Zawiya Mountain region in southern rural Idlib. Opposition fighters repelled attempts by regime forces to advance on the town, inflicting losses on them.
On March 5, Russia and Turkey reached an agreement involving a ceasefire in Idlib and the establishment of two six km long safe corridors north and south of the Aleppo-Lattakia highway which runs through Idlib. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
