Bodies of Civilians Executed by Assad Regime Found in Mass Grave in Khan al-Asal West of Aleppo

The bodies of three people who have been executed by the Assad regime forces have been found in a mass grave in the town of Khan al-Asal area west of Aleppo. Medical examiners said that the deaths took place nearly four years ago.

Forensic doctor Hassan Obaid told Smart News Network that civilians discovered the bodies of two men and a child who were shot dead around four years ago.

Obaid said that there was a small room near the mass grave where the killings took place, pointing out that the victims were shot then their bodies were dumped in a grave four meters away after they were burned with fuel.

A local activist told the Network that the executions were most likely carried out by an Assad regime army officer named Ali al-Jarash before regime forces were driven out of the area by rebel groups.

The Syrian Coalition said that the discovery provided yet new evidence of the brutality of the Assad regime which gave its militants a free hand to kill.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights earlier said that it had documented hundreds of massacres that have been committed in Syria over the past eight years, either by intensive bombardment using the most lethal weapons or by slaughtering and burning the victims, as in the towns of al-Hula and Treimsa.

The Coalition stressed the need to activate the international impartial mechanism to hold war criminals accountable and refer Syria to the International Criminal Court. (Source: Syrian Coalitions’ Media Department)
