Dozens of people were killed and wounded in the intensifying bombing campaign by the Russian and Assad regime forces on towns and villages of rural Idlib on Thursday.
Activists in rural Idlib said that at least 20 civilians were killed and dozens more were injured in airstrikes by Russian jets and barrel bomb attacks by Assad regime helicopters. The bombings mainly targeted the towns and villages of Musheirfah, Sarman, Tamna’ah, Sahyan, Tahtaya, and Um Jilal.
Activists said that the Russian and Assad regime bombardment targeted more than 29 towns and villages of Idlib province. Regime forces also carried out rocket shelling on villages west of the town of Jisr al-Shughour in rural Idlib.
The intensifying bombing campaign has prompted an exodus of civilians from southern and eastern rural Idlib with dozens of families fleeing the area to safer areas along the Syrian-Turkish border.
The Russian and Assad regime forces have considerably stepped up the bombing campaign on rural Idlib over the past five days. Hundreds of airstrikes and barrel bomb attacks have hit the area, killing and injuring hundreds of civilians and displacing thousands more
