Dozens of people demonstrated in the town of Jarablous in northern rural Aleppo on Sunday to show solidarity with the people of Deir Ezzor whose residents are being subjected to daily bombardment by the Russian-backed regime forces and militias of the co-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Demonstrators condemned the “crimes” being committed against the people of Deir Ezzor by the air forces of Russia, the Assad regime, and the international anti-ISIS coalition forces.
Over 100 residents, including activists, gathered in the Shuhadaa’ Square in central Jarablous where they waved the flag of the Syrian revolution and held sings condemning the massacres being committed against in Deir Ezzor. Protestors paid tribute to the victims of the aerial bombardment and called on the international community to protect civilians.
Syrian activists last week launched a campaign on social media under the title “Deir Ezzor Holocaust” to shed light on the soaring civilian casualties in the province.
The Syrian Coalition earlier condemned the attacks on civilians in the Deir Ezzor. Deir Ezzor provincial council called on the United Nations, the Secretariat of the UN Human Rights Council, and leadership of the international coalition to shoulder their legal and moral responsibility to protect civilians in the province.
