Under the supervision of the Syrian Interim Government (SIG), and in the presence of SIG’s Head Jawad Abu Hatab, Free Aleppo University held a graduation ceremony for 550 students at its headquarters in Azaz in rural Aleppo.
The ceremony was attended by most of the teaching staff of the university, heads of the local councils in the northern rural Aleppo, commanders of the Syrian National Army, and commander of the free police force in Azaz.
The management of the University also honored all those who contributed to the development of the University’s work and those who provided facilitation for its teaching staff. It also honored all those who maintained security and safety of its students.
Jawad Abu Hatab said that SIG gives priority to supporting the ministries of education and health. He pointed out that students are determined to complete their education and obtain university degrees in order to contribute to the work of institutions in the liberated areas.
Free Aleppo University, which is run by SIG’s Ministry of Education, comprises 19 colleges and 10 institutes of various departments and specialties. The University has also opened a number of branches for students to complete their graduate studies starting in 2018. It is attended by over 5,000 students.
The University is seeking international recognition for the certificates it issues and has been working with the Turkish Ministry of Education for this purpose. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
