The interim Ministry of Infrastructure, Agriculture and Water Resources, said that it carried out a project to produce bio-gas in the town of Harasta in near Damascus. The bio-gas will be produced through the breakdown of recycled waste in a landfill, and it is expected that the project would generate electricity sufficient to run a water pump that would supply 1650 families with clean water. The Ministry added that it would carry out similar projects across Syria. It also said that it had received half a million USD to buy 1,750 tons of seeds of the Syrian soft and durum wheat to preserve these types. These will be distributed on the farmers as pure seeds in the next season, in collaboration with the German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation (GIZ).
