The interim Ministry of Communications, Transportation and Industry has carried out the “Hawanet” project to provide broadband internet services to the population in the liberated areas in northern Syria. The project also aims to provide means of communication and its infrastructure, including the linking of telephone exchanges, setting up mobile phone networks and communications via the VoIP protocols. The project will serve all sectors of the interim government operating in the north, the relief, medical and media agencies, internet service providers, students and the general public. The initial phase of the project covers most areas in Aleppo province, with speeds ranging from 1 to 4 megabits per second and unlimited download speed. (Source: Syrian Interim Government)
