Many people on Thursday fled the town of Jelin in western rural Dara’a to escape renewed shelling by the Assad regime on the town and for fear of reprisal by regime forces.
Local activists said that many households fled their homes in Jelin and the nearby Al-Masaken housing complex towards the town of Tal Shihab and other towns in the Yarmouk Basin in western rural Dara’a.
At least eight people were killed, including three children, in artillery and rocket shelling by the Assad regime forces in Jelin on Wednesday.
The renewed regime shelling on parts of Dara’a province coincided with the ninth anniversary of the Syrian revolution, which broke out in the province in March 2011. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
