The medical staff working in the town of Zabadani yesterday sent an urgent appeal for help to humanitarian and medical organizations to protect what remained of civilians and medical personnel trapped inside the town. Zabadani has been coming under relentless assault led by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards and the Hezbollah militias amid severe shortages of life-saving material.
The medical staff holds the international community and humanitarian organizations responsible for what will happen to the civilians trapped inside in the event the town fell.
They call upon on the international community and international organizations to assume their responsibilities towards the protection of civilians in accordance with international laws and the Geneva Convention.
The Syrian Coalition earlier called on the UN Security Council to enforce resolution 2139 regarding the protection of civilians and the introduction of humanitarian aid to all areas under siege in Syria and the opening of humanitarian corridors. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
