The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) watchdog group said that at least 29,296 children have been killed across Syria since March 2011, including 179 who were killed under torture.
In a report on violations of children’s rights in Syria issued on Thursday, the Network said the victims included at least 22,853 who were killed by the Assad regime and 2,005 who were killed in attacks by the Russian forces. The ISIS extremist group was responsible for the deaths of 956 children.
The Network added that the PYD militia was responsible for the deaths of 223 children, while Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) was responsible for the deaths of 66 others. It pointed out that 924 children were killed in bombardment by the international anti-ISIS coalition forces, while 2,269 children were killed by other militant groups.
The report indicated that at least 4,816 children are still under arrest or enforced disappearance, including 3,561 who are held by the Assad regime forces, 319 by ISIS, 13 by other militant groups, 13 by HTS, 602 by the PYD militia, and 321 by other militant groups.
The monitoring group added that 179 children have been killed under torture since March 2011, of which 173 were killed by the Assad regime, one by ISIS, one by militant groups, one by HTS, one by the PYD militia, and three by other parties. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
