In a serious escalation of the Russian aggression on Syria, Russian warships stationed in the Mediterranean off the Syrian coast fired ballistic missiles on the town of Salqin in rural Idlib on Sunday. Nearly 15 civilians, including six children, were killed in the attacks and more than two dozens wounded.
Activists said several explosions rocked the town located near the Syrian-Turkish border shortly after midnight on Saturday. The missiles that hit Salqin are believed to be loaded with cluster munitions judging by the consecutive explosions that rocked the center of the town, especially Al-Masbagha Street.
In total, nearly 104 civilians, mostly women, children, and the elderly, were killed in Russian airstrikes and shelling by ballistic missiles on Sunday. The Russian bombing was concentrated on rebel-held areas in Idlib, Latakia and Aleppo provinces. (Source: Syrian Coalition + Shaam News Network)
