Head of the Syrian Interim Government (SIG) Jawad Abu Hatab met with head of Free Aleppo Governorate Council Ibrahim Khalil and discussed with him ways to rehabilitate the services institutions and the establishment of law courts in the liberated areas of Aleppo province.
In a statement, SIG said that it had agreed on measures to expand its work and reactivate transport, communications and electricity institutions. The meeting also discussed ways to incorporate the free police corps into SIG’s Ministry of Interior.
SIG indicated that it began to establish public prosecutor offices, court of first instance, court of cassation, court of appeal, court of peace, court of inquiry, court of referral and a notary public office in accordance with the Judicial Authority Law. It noted that these offices and departments would be staffed by qualified judges and lawyers who will work under the supervision of a judicial system that ensures the transparency and fairness of the law courts.
According to SIG’s statement, a decision was made to form the 5th Corps as part of the Syrian National Army that SIG formed in late 2017 of the Free Syrian Army groups operating in northern Aleppo. FSA groups operating in central Syria later joined the Syrian National Army which comprises four corps. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
