People in northwestern Syria took to the streets to welcome Operation Spring Shield that Turkey launched to fend off the Russia and Assad regime’s onslaught on Idlib province.
Big demonstrations took place in many parts of northwestern Syria to welcome the operation which helped the Syrian National Army and other opposition groups to recapture several towns and villages from the Assad regime forces and their allied militias in the past two days.
Residents of the town of Kafar Takharim in northwestern rural Idlib on Sunday took to the streets of their town to express support for the Turkish military operation and reaffirm commitment to the Syrian revolution. They also chanted slogans calling for the downfall of the regime and the liberation of the areas the regime has captured.
The demonstrators held signs that read ‘Turks and Syrians are brothers,’ and ‘Assad is treacherous,’ ‘there is no place among us for the cowards and defeatists,’ ‘the revolution continues,’ ‘we will emerge victorious,’ and ‘do not ask as for freedom from your enemies. You have to extract it by force.’
In rural Aleppo, residents of the town of Biza’a in eastern rural Aleppo demonstrated to welcome Operation Spring Shield, while dozens of displaced people in the town of Afrin, northern rural Aleppo, gathered to express their support for the operation and for the Syrian National Army.
Since the start of the Turkish military operation on March 1, the Syrian National Army, with Turkish aerial support, has liberated several towns and villages in the Mount Shahshabo, Jabal Al-Zawiya, and Sahel Al-Ghab regions from the Assad regime forces as well as captured many military vehicles, weapons and ammunition.
