Spokesman for the Syrian Coalition Salem al-Meslet stated that Saad al-Ansari Mosque massacre and every crime carried out by Assad air force is a direct result of the international community’s failure to assume its responsibilities and its continuing reluctance to impose a safe area to rein in the Assad regime from continuing to murder and terrorise.
Sixteen civilians, including two children, were killed and 20 injured when a regime helicopter threw a barrel bomb on a mosque yesterday night in Aleppo during sunset prayers.
Meslet said that the Assad regime’s escalation of bombarding Aleppo comes as a retaliation to the series of defeats its forces suffered on multiple fronts. “These vengeful desperate attacks on unarmed civilians, while failing to break the will of the Syrian people, serve as a sign of the regime’s inevitable downfall. No matter what the regime unleashes on civilians: barrel bombs, chemical weapons, and recently naval mines, the revolution will continue unabated until its aims are fully achieved.”
He praises the steadfastness of civilians and rebel fighters in the face of Assad’s killing machine, stressing that the Syrian people are fully aware that the world has left them to fight an open battle against alone against a murderous regime backed by regional and global regimes that do not care for the blood of the people.
