Ahmed Jarba, head of the Syrian Coalition, stresses the importance of the role of the Arab League in supporting the cause of the Syrian people in their legitimate struggle for freedom and self-determination during a meeting with Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil al-Arabi in Cairo. Jarba told the Secretary General that “we went with great courage to the Geneva peace conference, seeking a just political solution to end the bloodshed and suffering of the Syrian people. We also tried all diplomatic means to convince the Russians that their interest is in stand by the Syrian people and not the criminal regime.” Jarba also said that “the Syrian Coalition proved to the international community and the United Nations that we were negotiating with a criminal regime that drop barrel bombs on the Syrian cities and towns, and most recently on Qalamoun, where the FSA fighters have been putting up a miracilaously great fight against regime forces backed by foreign sectarian militias.” For his part, Al Arabi said that the Arab League will continue to stand on the side of the Syrian people and praised the Coalition’s efforts in the defense of the Syrian people and the representations of their the aspirations in the international fora.” Al Arabi stressed that the Arab League considers the Syrian Coalition of as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people and that it will be represented at the upcoming Arab summit in Kuwait later this month.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
