Vice-president of the Syrian Coalition Salwa Aksoi said that any possible military action against the Assad regime should target Assad and all associated war criminals as well as the Iranian terrorist militias.
Aksoi stressed that any solution must begin with the removal of Assad to pave the way for the start of the process of political transition in accordance with the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN Security Council Resolution 2254. She noted that this action should not affect the Syrian people as she stressed that the anticipated strikes must not turn to another occupation of Syria.
Aksoi also underscored the need to begin the formation of a Transitional Governing Body (TGB) with full executive powers leading the country during the transitional period. Bashar al-Assad is the one who is blocking solution in Syria, which risks dividing the country and the continued suffering of civilians, she added.
Furthermore, Aksoi stressed the need to hold all war criminals in Syria accountable, primarily those responsible for the use of chemical weapons claiming the lives of thousands of civilians.
Aksoi called on all allies and friends to spare the Syrian people further bloodshed and violence, stressing that this can only be feasible through the direct targeting of Assad and excluding him from the political scene. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
