The 49th meeting of the Syrian National Coalition’s General Assembly will begin Saturday and will discuss several important issues related to the collapse of the truce agreement due to the repeated breaches by the Assad regime and Russia as well as the latest developments in the political process.
The General Assembly will begin the meeting by discussing the humanitarian disaster in Idlib and the mass displacement of civilians towards the Turkish border. It will also discuss the needs of the displaced people, the provision of urgent aid in cooperation with the United Nations and the friendly states as well as local and international humanitarian organizations.
The Assembly will review reports by President Anas al-Abda, Vice-Presidents, the Secretary-General, and coordinators of the departments, offices and committees. The reports will detail the results of meetings with friendly and sisterly states on strengthening relations and mobilizing support for the Syrian people and their just cause.
Head of the Syrian Interim Government, Abdurrahman Mustafa, and SIG’s ministers will also participate in the meeting. The Assembly will discuss the progress of SIG’s work in the liberated areas and the most recent achievements with regards to improving security and stability as well as the establishment of services institutions and military courts.
The Office of Liaison and Military Studies will give on overview of the situation on the ground and maps of the latest military operations in Idlib and rural Aleppo following the collapse of the truce agreement. The truce collapsed after the Assad regime and its allies launched two deadly attacks on rural Idlib killing dozens of civilians and wounding many more.
