The Syrian National Coalition’s political committee on Thursday held its regular meeting with the chairmanship of President Anas al-Abda and the presence of Head of the Syrian Interim Government, Abdurrahman Mustafa. The committee discussed the latest political and on the ground developments in Syria.
The participants began the meeting with a discussion of the field and military report. They praised the opposition fighters for holding ground against Assad’s forces and their allied sectarian militias as well as the intensifying aerial bombardment.
They also discussed the latest political developments, including the meeting that took place Wednesday in Istanbul between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. They stressed the role of the international community in establishing an immediate ceasefire, protecting civilians, and introducing humanitarian aid to those in need and the IDP.
Members and coordinators of the offices gave an overview of the work of the Coalition’s departments and committees. President al-Abda stressed the need to make every effort to implement the plans for the first quarter of 2020.
Participants in the meeting also discussed the recent meetings and visits to the delegations of friendly and sisterly countries as they praised the efforts made to strengthen relations with friendly states to achieve common interests.
For his part, SIG’s Head Abdurrahman Mustafa gave a briefing on the progress of SIG’s work, especially with regard to improving security and stability in the liberated areas as well as the opening of many services and judicial institutions in various towns and villages.
Mustafa stressed that SIG is continuing with its project to boost the sense of national belonging. He said that SIG continues to offer amnesty for people who were lured and who had not been involved in crimes.
