Vice-president of the Syrian National Coalition, Oqab Yahya, said that the fallen hero Meshaal al-Tammo was a shining example to the Syrian citizen who incorporates the Kurdish cause in the overall national framework.
Yahya stressed that Tammo embodied the spirit and goals of the revolution as a revolution for Syrians of all backgrounds and affiliations. He said: “Tammo was at the forefront of the struggle to combine the general and special causes as he refused any separation between them.”
Yahya went on to say that the Syrian people today commemorates the eighth anniversary of the assassination of Tammo, the late Coalition member, in the town of al-Qamishli. He pointed out that the Assad regime sought to stifle the spirit of revolution among the Syrian people, especially the Kurds.
Moreover, Yahya stressed that the Kurds were and are still an essential part of the Syrian people’s revolution against tyranny, adding that the positions and ideas of Tammo are becoming clearer day after day. He stressed that the causes of the Syrian people and the Kurds is one project that cannot be separated or divided, adding that the victory of the revolution is a victory for the Kurdish cause as a purely Syrian cause.
He pointed out that Tammo strenuously defended the rights of the Syrian people and stood firm in the face of tyranny and injustice. He expressed confidence in the ability of the Syrian people to produce more of those heroes who act as a guarantee for victory of the Syrian people with all their components despite attempts by the forces of tyranny and occupation to crush the people’s will.
“Tammo stood in the face of discrimination and divisions that Assad regime and its allies sought to sow in Syria unlike others who did not show the wisdom and deep humanitarian vision that Tammo once had.” (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)
