Moroccan Prime Minister Saadeddine Othmani on Tuesday received President of the Syrian National Coalition Anas al-Abda who is visiting Morocco at the head of an accompanying delegation.
The two sides discussed the latest developments in Syria on the eve of the launch of the Constitutional Committee which is due to convene in Geneva under the auspices of the United Nations on Wednesday.
The meeting brought together Moroccan Minister of State for Human Rights and Parliamentary Affairs Mustafa Al-Rumaid, MP Mohammed Al-Tawail, Vice-President of the Coalition, Oqab Yahya, and member of the political committee Ahmed Ramadan.
President Al-Abda praised the position of the Moroccan leadership on the Syrian revolution, especially the international recognition of the Syrian National Coalition on December 12, 2012 when Othmani was Minister of Foreign Affairs. He also thanked Morocco for hosting Syrian refugees as he appreciated King Mohammed VI instructions to treat the Syrian refugees fairly.
For his part, Othmani said that they are following the tragic situation the Syrian people are going through as he expressed the hope that the UN-led efforts will succeed in stopping the bloodshed in Syria.
