Political Committee Convenes in Rural Aleppo to Discuss Important Issues

The Syrian Coalition’s political committee held its periodic meeting at the Coalition’s office in Aleppo countryside.

Members of the committee discussed the latest on the ground and political developments as well as reviewed the reports and activities carried out in recent months. They also reviewed the results of meetings held by the presidential body and the Office of Foreign Relations with representatives of friendly countries.

The committee also discussed the bloody attacks resulting from the military operations being launched by the Assad regime and Russian forces in Idlib and northern rural Hama. Members of the committee condemned the “heinous war crimes” taking place in the region as they called for an end to the bombardment and recommitment to the Idlib Agreement calling for a ceasefire in the province.

Moreover, the committee pointed to the importance of action by the international organizations to relieve civilians, especially in light of the mass waves of displacement of civilians and their threat to the host countries. They also stressed the importance of the resumption of support to the medical sector and not allowing the Assad regime and Russia to step up pressure on civilians to force them to surrender.

Hadi al-Bahra, member of the political committee and also the Syrian Negotiations Commission, briefed the committee on the Commission’s meeting with the international envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen in the Saudi capital Riyadh last week. He also gave an overview of the latest developments in the constitutional process, especially the formation of the Constitutional Committee.

The political committee also met with representatives of civil and military organizations, including the head of the political bureau of the National Liberation Front who briefed the participants on the current situation on the ground and the immense sacrifices being made by the rebel and FSA fighters to achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom and dignity. He also gave a brief on the efforts to unify the FSA formations. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
