The Syrian National Coalition’s political committee on Thursday held its regular meeting to discuss the results of the work of the offices and committees as well as the important meetings the Coalition has recently held with the major actors inside Syria as well as with sisterly and friendly states.
The meeting begun with a talk about the Coalition’s recent tour to the liberated areas where it met with commanders of the Syrian National Army as well as Syrian civil society and organizations operating in the region. The committee stressed the importance of strengthening communication and the opening of new channels to meet the needs and overcome the difficulties facing the civilian population in the liberated areas.
Participants in the meeting stressed the need to make the administrative experience in the liberated areas a success by enabling the Syrian Interim Government to carry out its vision for the formation of a national army, improving services, and the development of plan for holding elections under international supervision.
Participants also reviewed the results of the Coalition’s visit to the United States and the meetings it held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting. The Coalition delegation also met with international organizations as the delegation called for the provision of urgent humanitarian and medical assistance to civilians in the areas being subjected to bombardment by the Assad regime and its backers.
Moreover, the Coalition delegation met with the Syrian community in the United States.
