The Syrian Coalition condemned detention of Coalition member Abdulhamid Tamo by militia of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), stressing that such act is a replica of the Assad regime’s crimes.
In a press release issued on Monday, the Coalition said that PYD militiamen kidnapped Abdulhamid Tamo in the town of Darbasiya in rural Hasaka on Sunday (June 3).
Abdulhamid is also member of the Kurdish National Council as well as the Foreign Relations Officer of the Kurdish Future Movement. He is also brother of late dissident Mashaal Tamo.
The Coalition called for the immediate, unconditional release of Abdelhamid Tamo and all activists and dissidents currently detained in the prisons of the PYD militia. The Coalition also warned of the continued repression and violations against Syrian civilians and political activists.
“This reprehensible act is an exact replica of the crimes of the Assad regime which are aimed at intimidating the Syrian people and breaking their will,” the Coalition said. “In view of these continued practices, violations, and crimes, the Coalition reiterates the calls for the immediate and complete cessation of all forms of support for the PYD militia.” (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
