Russian warplanes targeted the headquarters of Aleppo provincial council in the town of Deir Jamal in northern rural Aleppo on Tuesday, causing severe damage and wounding a number of civilians.
Member of the General Assembly and head of Aleppo provincial council Osama Taljo strongly condemns the attack, pointing out that it undoubtedly reveals that the Russian-Iranian invasion of Syrian is designed to target infrastructure and institutions working to serve the Syrian people.
Taljo said that the airstrike came a few hours after Russian warplanes dropped leaflets threatening they will pound the liberated areas and warning citizens to leave.
Member of the political committee Suheir Atassi said that Aleppo provincial council is one of the most important civic institutions as it provides vital services for civilians. She added that the council, along with all other civic institutions, should have been neutralized in accordance with international humanitarian law.
Atassi stresses that the attack represents a serious violation of international humanitarian law, and adds to the previous violations by Assad backed by the Iranian and Russian invaders against the civilian institutions and infrastructure in the liberated areas.
