President of the Syrian Coalition Riad Seif met with the French special envoy to Syria, Franck Gellet, to discuss the latest developments in the political process and the situation on the ground in Syria.
The two sides stressed to the need to restart the political process to reach a just political solution in accordance with UN resolutions, most importantly of the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UNSC resolution 2254.
The two sides also reaffirmed the close, friendly relations between the Syrian and French peoples as well as the Syrian people’s rights to freedom and dignity.
Seif stressed the importance of Europe’s role in pushing the political process forward as he underscored that any solution cannot be reached with Assad and his clique in power.
For his part, Gellet stressed that there will be no stability in Syria without a just international political solution. He reaffirmed his country’s continued support for the Syrian opposition and its positions at the international level. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
