President of the Syrian Coalition Riad Seif stressed the need for the European Union to support the political process in the upcoming round of Geneva negotiations to help achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom and dignity and to overthrow the dictatorial Assad regime.
Seif was speaking during a meeting between the Coalition’s political committee and Christian Berger, Head of the European Union delegation to Turkey, at the headquarters of the Coalition in Istanbul on Saturday.
Seif urged continued humanitarian support by the EU to the Syrian people and to the projects being developed by the Syrian Interim Government (SIG) to provide services to the civilian population.
Seif pointed to plans by the Syrian Coalition to improve its performance and gain greater confidence of the Syrian people through reforming its institutions. He added that this requires greater support from friendly countries, especially the European Union. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
