The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) condemned Greece’s use of excessive force against refugees on its borders.
In a press release issued on Monday, the SOC said that “instead of panicking, the European Union countries should have heeded our repeated warnings of the occurrence of a fresh wave of refugees should the onslaught by the Russian occupation, Assad regime, and Iranian militias against civilians in Idlib continues.”
The SOC underscored that the European Union and all countries of the world “are required to support Operation Spring Shield and impose international resolutions on the Assad regime so as to ensure an end to the killing and mass displacement as well as force it to engage in a political solution.”
“We call on the European Union to take serious, firm stance and concrete action with regards to the atrocities taking place against civilians in Syria and not to limit its response to expressions of denunciation,” added the SOC.
The SOC went on to say that “it is imperative that the European Union protect refugees, preserve their dignity, and help create the appropriate conditions for their voluntary return to their homeland.” (SOC’s Media Department)
