The Syrian Coalition’s political committee called for full and immediate lifting of the blockades on all besieged areas across Syria, stressing that relief aid must be provided on a sustained basis.
At a teleconference with head of the Zabadani provincial council Jamil Tinawi and head of the medical staff in the town Amer Burhan on Saturday, the conferees warned of the consequences of excluding medical supplies form from the aid delivers that have recently been allowed to the town of Zabadani.
Burhan said that there are nearly 150 children in the town who have shown signs of severe malnutrition, especially distended abdomen as a result of insufficient protein consumption. He warned that their situation was rapidly worsening, adding that children with malnutrition needed immediate treatment that must not depend on the outcome of the Geneva negotiations.
President of the Syrian Coalition Anas al-Abdah promised that the Syrian Coalition will follow up on this issue with the United Nations and demand the immediate lifting of the blockade.
