Ahmad Jarba, head of the Syrian Coalition, denied reports that the Kurds would have an independent delegation in Geneva II. “The Kurds will be part of a delegation headed by the Syrian Coalition. The only two delegations that will participate in Geneva II will be sent by the Syrian Coalition and by the regime.” Jarba also confirmed that “there will no place for Assad in the transitional phase, as this is one of the top priorities for the Syrian Coalition.” Furthermore, Jarba called for a strict international position towards the massacres committed by the Assad regime against civilians. Pressure must be put on Assad to end his policy of starvation against the Syrian people. Also, all detainees in the dungeons of the Assad regime must be released.” In the same context, Human Rights Watch had accused government forces of using weapons and tactics that fail to distinguish between civilians and combatants, making such attacks “indiscriminate and therefore unlawful. The Syrian air force is either criminally incompetent, doesn’t care whether it kills scores of civilians, or deliberately targets civilian areas,” HRW senior emergency researcher Ole Solvang said. Jarba confirmed the existence of some militant groups who are linked to the Assad regime regime, stressing the importance of restructuring the FSA within the Ministry of Defense in the interim government.
