The Syrian Coalition has begun organizing workshops in the city of Gaziantep, Turkey to discuss ways to deliver aid to the besieged areas, and also to develop projects aimed at serving civilians in the liberated areas. Mohammed Qaddah, Vice President of the Syrian Coalition, opened the workshop with a speech that stressed “the need to deliver all kinds of political, media, logistic and financial support for the besieged cities, referring to an alternative plan of action to follow in light of the limited capabilities and meager international support. Therefore, we devised alternative solutions to support our steadfast people in Syria. The projects include the sectors of food industry, renewable energy and plant and animal resources.” The Provincial Council of Homs presented its solar power project which was carried out in light of the the lack of fuel and electricity in the province of Homs, noting that they have installed 60 small units and one big one to supply the Rehabilitation Hospital in the north with electricity. Similarly, the Assistance Coordination Unit (ACU) gave an overview of the most important projects it had carried out and also of the ones it is planning to implement in later stages. The ACU’s projects focused on projects of food security, agriculture, wheat storage, silos, bakeries, cattle-breeding, poultry farming, sheep breeding, dairies, glass containers, vegetables, and seed multiplication. Abdul Majeed Sulaiman from the Ministry of Infrastructure, Water Resources and Agriculture will give a presentation on existing underground shelters and tunnels and plans for building new ones.
