Harrowing details have emerged of the massacre carried out by the Russian forces in the city of Idlib on Wednesday. Russian jets at dawn on Wednesday bombed a four-story building in the neighborhood of Qusour in Idlib city, causing it to collapse over the heads of the people inside while they were sleeping. The victims included seven children from one family; sons and daughters of Doctor Mahmoud Sayeh.
The Syrian Coalition said that the Assad regime and its allies “are clearly exploiting the cease-fire in order to achieve goals they have failed to achieve by other means.”
In a press release issued earlier on Saturday, the Coalition said that the massacre claimed the lives of at least 25 civilians and was committed in a blatant violation of international law.
The Coalition stressed that “the continued inaction of the international community and the failure of the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities are encouraging such heinous crimes. The failure to put an end to such atrocious crimes risk causing further chaos in the region and beyond.”
“The international community is obliged more than ever to take immediate action to stop the carnage against the Syrian people, step up efforts to reach a solution to end the bloodshed, put an end to such crimes, and ensure accountability for these crimes,” the Coalition added.
