The Syrian National Coalition’s political committee on Thursday held its periodic meeting with the chairmanship of the Coalition President, Anas al-Abda. The meeting, which was also attended by head of the Syrian Negotiations Commission, Nasr al-Hariri, discussed the latest developments in Idlib, the war crimes the Assad regime and Russia are committing against civilians, and the latest developments in the political process.
Members of the political committee stressed the importance of the step taken by the Syrian National Army to defend Idlib by confronting the forces of the regime and its allies. They also stressed the need for all revolutionary forces to unite to protect Idlib and provide assistance to its people, including those who remained in their homes and those who were forced to flee to escape the relentless bombardment of residential areas and public facilities.
Members of the committee reiterated their calls on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities by ratcheting up pressure on the Assad regime and Russia to force them to stop their onslaught on Idlib. They also called for taking all urgent measures to protect civilians and deliver humanitarian aid to the IDP.
