A march organized by the Syrian community in the German capital Berlin is due to take place today to the mark the sixth anniversary of the Syrian revolution.
Head of the Syrian Coalition’s foreign mission in Germany Bassam Abdullah said that preparations for the march have been finished, indicating that invitations have been sent to a number of German officials to participate in the march.
Abdullah said that this is an occasion for Syrians to renew commitment to achieving the goals of the revolution and regaining their rights to freedom and dignity.
Abdullah received Andreas Krüger, head of the Middle East Division at the German Federal Foreign Office, in the headquarters of the Coalition foreign mission in Berlin on Tuesday. The meeting was also attended by Adrian Pullman and Sebastian Neubauer of the Syria team in the German Federal Foreign Office.
Abdullah welcomed the press statement issued by the German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel to mark six years after the first peaceful demonstration against the Assad regime. Sigmar said in the statement that Germany will continue to support the United Nations efforts to ensure accountability for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Syria.
Krüger reiterated Germany’s support for the Syrian opposition and the Syrian people’s demands for freedom and democracy. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
