Members of the Syrian National Coalition participated in a workshop organized by the Local Development Organization (LDO) to discuss the future of governance and local administration in Syria.
Participants also included representatives of provincial and local councils. Held in the Turkish city of Gaziantep, the two-day workshop included discussions of the lessons learned from the experiences of the local administration that was set up over the course of the Syrian revolution.
Participants gave an overview of the formation of provincial and local councils in the liberated areas, projects to provide services to the civilian population, and the obstacles and difficulties facing these councils.
They also discussed the need to constantly develop the work of the local councils and establish good governance in the liberated areas, stressing the important, influential role of the local councils in enabling the people to manage their own areas.
