Dahir: Lebanese Army Killed a Syrian Girl & Accused Her Father of Blowing Himself up

Lebanese MP Khalid Dahir denied claims by the Lebanese army that the little girl who was killed during the June 30 raid on camps of Syrian refugees in and around the town of Arsal in northeastern Lebanon was killed when her father blew himself up using an explosive belt. Dahir confirmed that the girl died when an army vehicle rammed into the hut in which she was living, causing a wall to collapse on her.

At a press conference held at his home in the city of Tripoli, Dahir confirmed that the parents of the girl are still alive.

Dahir held the commander of the Lebanese Army and the Minister for Defense responsible for the death of the girl as well as the death of others in the custody of the Lebanese Army.

Dahir denied claims by the Lebanese army that a refugee had blown himself up, saying these claims are meant to cover up the crimes committed against innocent children and women in the camps.

The Syrian Coalition earlier held the Lebanese authorities responsible for the incidents that took place in Arsal. It called for an urgent investigation into the crimes against the Syrian refugees and for perpetrators to be held to account.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, the Coalition called upon the United Nations, the UN Commission on Human Rights, and all relevant international organizations to take urgent action and assume their responsibilities to stop these violations and crimes and to hold those responsible to account.
