Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari, a top commanding officer of Iran’s elite fighters, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), said that Iran’s intervention in Yemen and Syria comes within the framework of the expansion of the Shiite Crescent in the region.
Jafari added that Iran has formed a force of 100,000 militants of the People’s Armed Forces to support the Assad regime and the “Islamic revolution” as part of the “Resistance Front.”
President Khoja said earlier that “as the Syrian Revolution enters its fifth year, it is shifting away from being a revolution against tyranny and injustice to a battle for liberating Syria from the Iranian occupation after Assad handed over Syria to Iran and after Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Qods Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard took on commanding the regime’s military operations.
Khoja added that “the Free Syrian Army does not fight the Assad regime only, but also the Iranian regime, emphasizing that Assad is just an Iranian puppet who serves its interests. He noted that the time would come when Iran will eventually abandon Assad just as it did with Al-Maliki in Iraq.”
