Humanitarian Crisis in Tal Kalakh, Homs
June 26, 2013
The Syrian Coalition urges the UN and its affiliated agencies to take immediate action to save the lives of civilians in the city of Tal Kalakh. Opening humanitarian corridors is needed to transport wounded civilians and to rescue children, women, and the elderly.
Assad’s forces, reinforced by Hezbollah’s militias, are committing crimes against humanity in areas around Homs. The city of Tal Kalakh has been under brutal assault, as scores of women and children are targeted and killed by Assad forces.
Previously, the Syrian Coalition warned that the siege of Tal Kalakh would put civilians at risk of starvation and massacre. The Syrian Coalition had called upon the international community to assume its responsibilities towards stopping the systematic killing of the Syrian people.
It is regrettable that the continued silence on the part of the international community made it possible for Assad’s regime to commit the massacre of Tal Kalakh.
We ask for mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
