The Syrian National Coalition highly appreciates the efforts of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Kingdom of Belgium and all other states and parties that contributed to the adoption of a draft resolution allowing the introduction of humanitarian aid through the border crossings that are not under the control of the Assad regime.
The Syrian National Coalition welcomes any move ensuring the continued cross-border entry of humanitarian aid as it stresses the importance of increasing the number of border crossings through which relief aid can be introduced. We also stress that the entry of aid must not be tied to a specified timeframe but to the need for it. The lives of thousands of Syrians, especially children, may depend on access to this vital aid at the right time and place.
The passage of this resolution showed that it is possible to find a middle ground as well as international understandings and mechanisms that allow the adoption of more UN resolutions that can contribute to ending the crimes; saving civilians; and pushing towards a real political solution.
