When the Syrian people took to the streets chanting for freedom, dignity and a civil state, they vowed to commit to the ideals of the Syrian Revolution.
Over the past two years of this struggle, Syrian people of different creeds have rejected racial discrimination as well as condemned attempts by the Assad regime to create discord amongst the various communities.
Since the beginning of the revolution, Assad’s forces and shabiha have tried to fuel sectarian strife, but the Syrian people thwarted those attempts. The unfortunate practices of various individuals do not reflect the true values of the revolution.
The Syrian Coalition rejects any action that proves inconsistent with the values and principles of the Syrian Revolution. Many Syrians have sacrificed their lives chanting, “the people united will never be divided,” and have fought to create a Syria based on a civil state where the rule of the law and justice prevail.
The Syrian Coalition reiterates that those who commit crimes and infringe on international conventions will be identified, pursued and brought to justice.
We ask for mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
