Residents of Al-Waar, Homs Uncover Massacre by Assad Militias
May 18, 2013
Regime forces and Shabiha militias committed a grisly massacre in the Al-Waar neighborhood of Homs. Residents uncovered the massacre, finding the remains of 17 people who had been executed and burned in a park.
The Assad regime is waging a brutal, systematic campaign against civilians in the Homs countryside, thereby unequivocally demonstrating that it pays no heed to statements of condemnation, much less to the demands of the Syrian people.
The Syrian Coalition has often provided the international community of advance warnings of these massacres. However, the positions taken by the international community, in its endless denunciations and condemnations, are worthless in the eyes of the victims. To stop these massacres, the Security Council and international organizations must enforce restrains on the Assad regime. The international community must rise to its responsibility to end the flood of blood and tears and to come to the aid of women and children in Syrian villages under siege.
We ask for Mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded, and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
