Assad militias opened fire on a convoy of civilians trapped in eastern rural Hama on Tuesday (September26), killing at least 80 civilians and injuring dozens more, including women and children.
Hundreds of civilians trapped in the Wadi al-Azeeb valley in eastern rural Hama, which is besieged by Assad militias, were trying to escape the tragic conditions they were living in when they were brutally and horribly targeted by heavy machine guns, artillery shells and rockets in a crime that amounts to genocide.
The Coalition condemns this heinous crime as it holds the international community responsible for the continued killings, besiegement, and targeting of civilians by the Assad regime, the Russian invaders’ air force, and the Iranian militias in violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions.
The Coalition calls on the UN Security Council and UN Special Envoy to Syrian Staffan de Mistura to condemn these crimes and hold the perpetrators to account.
