In an escalation of violations against the Syrian people, militias of the Union Democratic Party (PYD) have attacked the offices of the Kurdish National Council (KNC) in most towns and villages in northern Syria. The attacks have been launched under illegal decisions and decrees that were issued by organizations that do not represent the Syrian people nor respect their will. These decisions and decrees are an attempt by the PYD militias to grant legitimacy to their actions through terror and the force of arms.
These measures will certainly fail to help the PYD militias gain legitimacy as they excluded all groups and organizations not loyal to the Assad regime in the area. These measures, including most notably a decision to ban all political parties in northern Syria, have exposed the true role being played by these militias which act under orders by the Assad regime. Their repressive practices were targeted against the Syrian people, the revolution and against the Kurdish component, especially against the Kurdish National Council. The Council has stood by forces of the Syrian opposition since day one of the revolution.
The Syrian Coalition condemns the PYD’s terrorist practices as it calls on the international community to put pressure on the militias and their affiliates to stop their repressive practices that copy the Assad regime’s crimes.
May our wounded recover, our detainees be free, and our fallen heroes rest in peace.
Long live Syria and the Syrian people, free and with honor.
