Press release
Syrian National Coalition – Syria
Department of Media and Communications
February 28, 2020
In the name of the Syrian people, the Syrian National Coalition extends its heartfelt condolences to the brotherly Turkish people and to the families of the Turkish soldiers who were killed in a treacherous attack by the Assad regime and its Russian ally in Idlib province late on Thursday.
The Syrian National Army and the Turkish Army are fighting a common enemy with the aim of defending Syria and Turkey and their peoples.
The Assad regime has become a threat to Turkey and the region, just as it has long been a serious threat to Syria and its people. This cowardly regime would not have committed this heinous act without Russia’s permission and support given Russia’s proven track record of treachery and disrespect of all agreements and promises. Only the use of force can rein in the Assad regime.
We call on the free world, with all its states and organizations, including NATO, to impose a no-fly zone in northern Syria and to stand with the Syrian National Army and Turkey by providing real support that would help end the bloodshed, protect civilians, ensure the return of refugees, spread peace in the region, and spare the region a disaster affecting everyone.
The blood of the fallen heroes of the Turkish army and our blood is one. Their loss is our loss. Their death will not go unavenged.
Mercy and glory to the fallen heroes of the Turkish army and the Syrian National Army as well as to everyone who fights against injustice and the oppressors and to the fallen heroes of the revolution for freedom and dignity. # # #
