The Latest Developments in Tal Kalakh, Homs Countryside
June 23, 2013
Reinforced by Hezbollah’s militias, Assad forces have launched an offensive on the city of Tal Kalakh, in the countryside of Homs province. The number of causalities continues to rise in ongoing clashes, as the Free Syrian Army bravely defends the city. To make matters worse, a fire broke out in the western neighborhood; it is believed that the fire is intended to intimidate the civilian population.
The Syrian Coalition warns that this potential siege of Tal Kalakh puts civilians at risk of torture, starvation, and massacre. The Assad regime is well known for ordering massacres during attacks of this sort, as they desperately attempt to squash the Syrian Revolution for freedom.
The Syrian Coalition renews its call on the international community to assume its responsibilities to put an end to Assad’s continued violations of international charters and covenants and its crimes against the Syrian people.
The international community must act immediately to save the lives of Syrian civilians, stop the bloodshed, and support the revolution that strives to achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom and dignity.
We ask for mercy for our martyrs, health for our wounded and freedom for our detainees.
Long live Syria and its people, free and with honor.
