At least 18 civilians were killed and more than 30 others wounded in intense airstrikes by the Assad regime and its Russian ally in Aleppo and Idlib provinces on Sunday.
The Civil Defense Corps said that the bombardment killed nine people in the town of Kafarnouran, three others in al-Sheikh Ali, two in Orim al-Soghra, and three others are in al-Atarib.
Airstrikes also killed one person in rural Idlib and wounded 13 others. The Civil Defense said that a family of a man, a woman, and two children were injured as a result of rocket shelling by regime forces stationed in Jourin Camp in rural Hama on the outskirts of the town of Jisr Al-Shughour in rural Idlib.
Violent bombardment and shelling also pummeled the towns of al-Atarib, Kafar Hamra, Kafarnouran, Khan Al-Asal, al-Sheikh Ali, Al-Kseibiyya, Kafr Halab, Tal Masabeen, Kafarnaha, Al-Bawabiya, Al-Rashideen, and Al-Andoumi Factory in western rural Aleppo. Similar attacks also targeted the towns of Jisr al-Shughour, Badama, Al-Hanboushieh and Sarmin.
The Assad regime has pressed on with a ground offensive it launched in Idlib and rural Aleppo with Russian aerial support. The bombing campaign has intensified since December 20, 2019, killing and wounding hundreds of civilians and displacing hundreds of thousands of more.
