Palestinian-Syrian Killed under Torture in Assad’s Prisons
The Assad regime's security agencies continue to execute detainees in prisons and detention centers. A Palestinian-Syrian from the town of Masyaf in rural Hama died under torture in the Assad regime's prisons following more than a year and a half of detention.
The Action Group for the Palestinians of Syria (AGPS) on Saturday said that the Palestinian-Syrian Muhammad Zureik was killed under torture in the Assad regime's prisons. It pointed out that Zureik was detained three times for his participation in peaceful anti-regime demonstrations in Damascus.
The Group said that a total of 617 Palestinian-Syrians had been killed under torture in the prisons of the Assad regime, including children, women, and the elderly.
In a previous report, the London-based monitoring group said that it had documented more than 5,258 Palestinian-Syrians who had suffered serious physical violations, adding that thousands more had suffered various injuries since the start of the Syrian revolution in 2011.
The Assad regime’s security forces have already handed over the personal belonging of dozens of victims of torture to their families. However, many of these families prefer to remain silent for fear of reprisal by Assad regime. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
