The Syrian Interim Government inaugurated a new flour mill in the town of Baza’a in northern rural Aleppo with a production capacity of 50 tons per day. The move came as part of SIG’s plans to fully cover the needs of the liberated areas.
The mill was opened by the Minister of Finance and Economy, Abdel Hakim Al-Masri. The participants also included member of the Syrian National Coalition, Ahmed Shehadi, Minister of Justice, Abdullah Abdel Salam, Minister of Local Administration, Muhammad Suleiman, heads of local councils, Director General of the General Grain Foundation, and SIG’s representative in the Syria Recovery Trust Fund (SRTF).
The mill provided 42 new jobs. It also raised the production capacity in the liberated areas to 150 tons per day, which covers nearly 40 percent of the needs of the liberated areas of flour.
SIG is making preparations for the opening of new mills later this year in order to achieve self-sufficiency in flour in the liberated areas. (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)
