The Syrian National Coalition’s political committee held its regular meeting on Thursday and held a teleconference with members of the General Assembly to discuss the conditions in Idlib and rural Aleppo as well as to study the available options in light of the failure of the international community to assume its responsibilities towards the Syrian people.
President of the Coalition, Anas al-Abda, gave an overview on the results of his recent tour to the liberated areas and his meeting with commanders of the Syrian National Army. He stressed that the morale of the opposition fighters is high and that they are showing legendary heroism in fending off the regime and its allies’ onslaught on Idlib.
Al-Abda also talked about the international tour being made by the Coalition to urge the international community to take serious action to establish a ceasefire, ensure protection for civilians, take humanitarian action and deliver relief aid to the displaced people.
Moreover, Al-Abdah talked about the letters the Coalition sent to the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the European Union, and the friendly states. The letters demanded an immediate ceasefire, that the international community assume its responsibilities to protect civilians, and urgent humanitarian assistance to the displaced people.
Al-Abda stressed that Russia does not abide by international resolutions or other treaties and agreements, noting that this coincides with disappointing failure by the international community and the major actors in Syria.
He called on the Syrian revolution and opposition forces to unify and close ranks in order to beat off the upcoming challenges and to stand firmly behind the demands of the Syrian revolution for freedom and dignity. (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)
