President of the Syrian National Coalition, Anas Al Abda, met with member of the House of Councilors and Coordinator of the Moroccan Association for Constitutional Law as well as senior member the Justice and Development Party (AKP) Abdelali Hami Eddine in the Moroccan capital Rabat on Monday.
The tow sides discussed the latest political developments and the security situation in Syria as well as ways of allowing the Syrian people to benefit from the Moroccan constitutional experience on the eve of the launch of the meetings of the Constitutional Committee in Geneva.
President Al-Abda gave a detailed overview of the Constitutional Committee and the expectations held by the Coalition and the way it expects it will work. He expressed the hope that Syrian people will find support from their Moroccan brethren in this respect. The Coalition delegation included Vice-president, Oqab Yahya, and member of the political committee Ahmed Ramadan.
For his part, Hami Eddine welcomed the Syrian delegation as he highly appreciated the sacrifices of the Syrian people for freedom, which he said exceeded all expectations. He said that they stood ready to provide support and legal advice to the Syrian opposition with regards to the work of the Constitutional Committee.
Hami Eddine said that Morocco has a legal and constitutional expertise that can help the Syrian people reach constitutional formulas capable of launching a transitional period and a democratic phase provided that all the Syrian parties show sincere will, pointing out that this requires tremendous efforts from everyone.
